Congressman Chuck Edwards joined The Kudzu Project for Episode 22 in March, where he discussed the issues facing Western North Carolina and his work in Congress. Since that conversation, Edwards has announced he is ending his re-election campaign after the House Ethics Committee recommended he be censured over findings of inappropriate conduct toward female staff members. He will continue serving the remainder of his current term.
Earlier this year, The Kudzu Project also welcomed former U.S. Army Green Beret Adam Smith for Episode 18 during his campaign for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District. Smith was defeated by Edwards in the Republican primary, and with Edwards now stepping aside, his name has emerged among those who could potentially be considered as Republicans select a replacement nominee for November’s general election.
